Miller Chicago hosted an open house in our 1 last remaining retail space at Luxe on Chicago. Miller Chicago is the exclusive retail listing broker for Luxe on Chicago. Thank you to all who attended and played our neighborhood trivia game. See answers below:

Belmont Cragin
  1. The first splitting of the atom occurred here.
  2. Railroads drew more factories and workers to the area, which was annexed into Chicago as part of Jefferson Township in 1889.
  3. Belmont Cragin is a community built on commerce and industry. The first business was a saloon opened by George Merrill sometime after 1835.
Bucktown
  1. A landmark in this area is a water tower with a “Have a Nice Day” smiley face on it.
  2. The Polish settlers had originally designated many of Bucktown’s streets with names significant to their people – Kosciusko, Sobieski, Pulaski and Leipzig.
  3. Due to the heavy influence of Polish immigrants in the early 20th century, Bucktown was know as “Little Poland”.
Bridgeport
  1. Many celebrities are from this area such as Derrick Rose and Jennifer Hudson.
  2. Bridgeport has been the home or birthplace of 5 mayors of Chicago.
  3. In 2008, the Chicago Sun-Times listed this area as one of the 4 most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in Chicago.
Lakeview
  1. Jane Addams was a resident of Lakeview.
  2. Lakeview was named after Hotel Lake View.
  3. During the Civil War, the intersection of North Clark, North Broadway and West Diversey was home to Camp Fry, a training facility for the volunteer 132nd and 134th Illinois infantry regiments.
Logan Square
  1. Logan Square is also known as “Smokey Hallow”.
  2. Logan Square was named for General John A Logan, a Civil War Hero and Illinois Senator.
  3. The Logan Square “L” stop used to be the end of the Blue line until 1964.
Lincoln Park
  1. The first U.S Blood Bank opened in 1937 in this area. 
  2. Lincoln Park Runs from north to south through five Chicago communities.
  3. The North Pond Nature Sanctuary, located between Fullerton, Diversey, Stockton, and Cannon, is a ten acre pound.
Roscoe Village
  1. David Hale performed the first open heart surgery in Roscoe Village.
  2. The primary feature of this area is Roscoe Street, which bisects the neighborhoods boundaries between Addison Street and Belmont Avenue.
  3. Developers constructed the “world’s largest amusement park,” dubbed Riverview Park.
Ukrainian Village
  1. The first McDonald’s was opened here. 
  2. The homes are generally larger than others in surrounding areas. There are also many domed churches.
  3. On December 4, 2002, the Ukrainian Village District, centering on Haddon Avenue, Thomas Street, and Cortez Street between Damen and Leavitt Avenues, including portions of Damen, Hoyne and Leavitt Avenues, was designated as a Chicago Landmark District.
Wicker Park
  1. The neighborhood includes former rail yards that have been redeveloped as Dearborn Station.
  2. Division Street was known as “Polish Broadway”
  3. John Cusack’s Film, High Fidelity was filmed here.
West Loop
  1. Popular restaurants include Fig and Olive, Mario’s Table, and Coast Cafe.
  2. The Chicago River, which flows through the Loop, flows backwards.
  3. The West Loop use to be primarily an industrial area.
